We are working on our roadmap for the next few years and wanted to give some heads up and open it for discussion to our community
Near term: Spark Names
Spark coinbase transactions (mining rewards + masternode rewards can be sent to Spark addresses)
Mid-term: Spark Assets Confidential Layer integration with Spark Asset support (allows bridging of assets) Serai integration Enkrypt wallet integration (web3 multi chain wallet)
Long term: Curve trees: Global anonymity sets and perfect forward secrecy (anonymity isn’t broken when quantum computers come about)
Alternative consensus mechanisms for when tail emission is hit.
General to-dos
Campfire wallet improvements with it becoming the default experience
Improved reference wallet performance (QT)
User friendly view key integration
Nice to haves (ideally done by third party)
Self hosted payment gateways (ala BTCPayserver)
BEP20 FIRO and FIRO bridges
Komodo wallet with Spark support
Nice and concise roadmap. Each short line, which represent many hours of core team work, will signal a major leap forward for the FIRO protocol. It is reinvigorating that the many years of struggling through the undergrowth of the crypto ecosystem should finally lead us to a clear and sunny private glen of possibilities.
Spark names will make using the privacy layer so much more user friendly and the Spark Coinbase transactions will make it much more secure; no more relying on ecosystem participants to manually add MasterNode rewards to the privacy pool. However the biggest leap forward, in my opinion, will be the adding of Spark Assets to the protocol. The collaboration with Confidential Layer proves that there is already a use case for this technology, and surely there will be many more others to come.
Confidential Layer look to be releasing their mainnet before the end of this year. Although it is not a good idea to be hurried along by somebody else’s agenda, will Spark Assets be deployed on FIRO in time for this event?
