Using the Firo Core wallet, were you not at one point able to click the lock icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the wallet GUI and lock/unlock the wallet?
How do you unlock the wallet in the GUI without using the console?

To unlock the wallet in the GUI now, you must enter your wallet passphrase in the “Settings” → “Options” → “Wallet” menu, or use the console command walletpassphrase “YOURPASSWORD” 30.
You can unlock the wallet in the GUI only when sending or anonymising your balance.
