This is my first post here, so I wanted to introduce myself and share a project I’ve been working on with the Firo ecosystem.
I’ve been interested in Firo and its privacy-focused approach, and over the past period I’ve been working on FiroGate CE (Community Edition), an open-source payment gateway for FIRO.
I had previously spoken with Reuben about the project, and he encouraged me to share it with the community. I wanted to spend some more time developing and improving it before publishing it, which is why it took me a while to finally make this post.
The project started from a simpler payment-flow implementation, and as I continued working on it, I gradually rebuilt and improved several parts of the architecture, especially around payment detection, invoice tracking, confirmations, scanner recovery, and payment-state handling.
After spending some time developing and testing it, I’ve now reached version 0.0.8.
What’s new in v0.0.8
- Improved payment detection and confirmation flow
- More reliable invoice and checkout tracking
- Blockchain scanner checkpoints and recovery
- Improved payment-state management
- Protection against duplicate or inconsistent payment processing
- Improvements to the overall payment engine and reliability
The project is open source, so anyone interested can inspect the code, run it locally, test it, and contribute.
I’d really appreciate feedback from the Firo community, especially from developers who are interested in payment infrastructure or would like to test the project and suggest improvements.
I’m still learning and improving the project, so I’m very open to feedback and ideas from people with more experience in the Firo ecosystem.
