I have made a new Firominer release that dramatically improves performance from the original reference miner and is on parity (or close to) closed source miners on Nvidia cards. There is no dev fee for these miners and it is totally open sourced!
I haven’t manage to test it on AMD miners so any feedback would be appreciated. Do try it with or without the --cl-subgroup flag.
I’m also adding support for adding a Coinbase message in a future Firo release. Once that is in this miner can embed a coinbase message to forever etch it onto the blockchain to promote solo-mining.
It also updates CUDA to 12.9 Update 2 (the last CUDA version that has Maxwell, Pascal and Volta support).
I hope you guys like this release and it supports a more open mining environment.
Tested on rx 9070xt, rx 6800, and rx 7600
Works fine on all three, and is ballpark compared to closed source miners.
Maybe a bit lower, but that fits well enough with dev fees. solo miners looking for the widest margins can probably still get better hashrates with closed source miners. My use case makes that a non-option.
Thanks reuben. This has been the primary limiter to me investing more (hardware) into firo.
Are instructions for solo mining on one’s own node similar to the old reference miner?
Firominer v1.5.1 adds Mainnet solo mining to the desktop launcher and improves its layout on smaller and scaled displays.
Changes
Choose Pool or Solo in the desktop launcher. Solo connects directly to your own synced Mainnet Firo node and uses a transparent Firo reward address. Pool and solo settings are saved separately; passwords stay in memory for the current session.
Use the built-in node configuration guide and Test node action to check RPC access, network, sync status, reward address, and mining work before launching. Failed or cancelled checks do not start mining, and RPC credentials are kept out of logs.
Monitor accepted blocks and node connection status in Solo mode. Setup and overview panels reflow for smaller windows, larger text, and display scaling.
Expand GUI and controller tests for node failures, miner startup errors, responsive layouts, and Windows packaging.
