Status changed from ‘idea’ to ‘Funding Required’
Thanks for the opportunity. I am here, in case anyone would have any questions or comments about it! ![]()
Given the urgent need and this being a community donation effort (not a CFC proposal), the funds will be released periodically as they are collected instead of just waiting for the full funding.
Appreciate the updates @rottenwheel !
My pleasure! Please find below the suggested ES/EN transcript and translation of the testimonial video available on X and now here. For transparency, I processed the redacted video clip with an AI service called Descript: you upload the video, it gives you the requested transcript of it. I polished some oddities since I am a native speaker, while I was translating it from Spanish, to English, by hand (and eye :P) Yes, translation was humanly-made, by me.

Hola, hola.
Hi, hi. We would like to record this video to thank all those people who have been collaborating with us until today. We know we are going through a very difficult situation, but we are surprised becase all Venezuelans that live out of the country, each of them is contributing, some are making “arepitas”, others are getting together with their colleagues.
Well, we are very happy to count on you all. We would like to give a special thank you to the FIRO community, right? Where [rottenwheel] is doing (is doing is part of the bleep in video, for redaction purposes) an excellent job. He hasn’t let us go, he has grabbed us by the hand in the day-to-day. “Guys, here, this, anything you may need,” he has always been there with us.
We would like to thank him and “Arepas Nani” from Argentina. The Venezuelans there in Argentina, the Argentinians trying the arepas, being there, most importantly around Mendoza, truthfully, supporting us a lot. Guys, thanks for everything, honestly. And well, too many other people who are making donations, your small donations, no matter what amount.
There is a friend who texted me and said: “[redacted], I have just ten dollars, I mean, please, if you take it…” I was like sure, every grain of sand is what we need really, it helps us have this: [shows all the different medicines purchased in that batch of relief goods in video.] All of this is part of you all, all of this is thanks to you, to all the donations you have made.
There’s still a lot of things. Every day we are raising more, every day we are going down to La Güaira, delivering at hospitals. We are doing of everything, a little bit, well, what is within our scope, because we are not a foundation, we are two people: my wife who is recording (and me) and well, others help me here, others help me there, but among all, among all we can do a big job, which is what we have been doing.
Entonces, bueno, gracias a todos. Gracias de corazón.
Then, well, thanks to all. Thanks from the heart.
Due to our Discourse settings that do not allow normal users to post MP4s, I’m posting the video here for everyone’s convenience.

Added to the FCS proposal description as well, of course.

This document exists because (the) United States has sanctions on Venezuela. Sanctions that look to press corrupted government individuals, repressive networks and government-controlled groups. And in theory, the humanitarian help is allowed. But after this fatal (doublet) earthquake, they had to issue a special license so that banks and companies could move funds and aid to Venezuela.
So, in an emergency, donating did not depend on wanting to help alone. It depended on a specific office in Washington authorization for the transaction to go through, it depended on a bank accepting it and that a money transfer company was not hesitant to clear it. Sanctions claim to aim those in power, but when a donation needs a license to cross a border, the punishment leans on the people. (Citizenry themselves.)
Bitcoin no pide permiso a nadie.
Bitcoin does not ask for permission to nobody. It does not depend on a bank authorizing or on a money transfer company allowing the transaction. A person can receive value directly in their wallet from anywhere in the world. Bitcoin does not replace the help on the ground of thousands of rescuers, but it prevents funds from being stuck before they arrive.
Paco and his wife started a fundraiser in “Dinero sin Reglas”, link below ( Crowdfunding Venezuela ), and they did not ask permission from anyone to start helping. As well, Óscar Burgos did the same, who through Geyser Fund and Nostr started collecting donations. Let’s not forget about Rotten, who along with opening another fundraiser with Geyser Fund, collected donations in Monero.
I send a big hug to our brothers who are supporting the cause and who demonstrate us that in a tragedy, solidarity does not have to ask for permission.

Thank you very much, FIRO community members, et. al.! Please find a batch of tweets in thread below:
• nitter: Verifying your browser…
“I don’t have X”. You can check using a nitter instance, such as xcancel.com. I figured this method would be easier to share proof with you all, rather than @reuben manually uploading all pictures (and) videos in here. Hopefully that works for you.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!
Great work ![]()

Here I come again, with a new batch of tweets, a new mini-thread within the thread:
If you don’t have X, you can use the xcancel link (link number 2 above) to review. If you use xcancel, you may have to scroll down a little to reach the newer tweets. @reuben please feel free to upload pictures here and for this one, the testimonial video might be a good idea as well, since it mentions the Firo community!
Thanks to all donors! Questions or comments welcome.
